Douglas Paul Reed, hailing from Parkersburg, West Virginia, was born on August 16, 1988, with an innate flair for artistic expression through music and acting. With over two decades dedicated to his craft, Doug is a virtuoso in acting, music, and the visual arts.

At age 12, Doug began his musical journey, mastering the piano and saxophone. His musical learning didn’t stop there; at 24, he added another instrument to his repertoire, mastering the accordion with the same fervor and dedication. Alongside his musical prowess, he honed his acting skills by attending the esteemed American Musical Dramatic Academy in New York. Graduating in May 2009 as a certified professional actor, Doug's command over the stage and screen was undeniable. Doug is a regular in local performances and has starred in multiple plays. He also demonstrated his passion for acting by supporting high school productions as the music director.

In 2003, at age 15, Doug's artistic vision found a new canvas as he delved into the world of cartoons. With such inspirations as Joe Murray (Rocko’s Modern Life), Bob Clampett (Warner Bros.), and Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) he picked up a pen and went to work. In 2017, Doug's multifaceted talents culminated in the creation of The Doug Reed Show, a testament to his boundless creativity. Featured on his YouTube channel, SHMOPE TV, the show became a platform for his musical prowess, acting finesse, and unparalleled ability to entertain.

Doug Reed is not just an artist; he's a maestro. He seamlessly blends his passion for music and acting into a symphony of creativity that resonates with audiences worldwide.

I think my flame for creating cartoons first sparked watching “Rocko’s Mordern Life” on Nickelodeon as a kid in the 1990s. It was Rachel Bighead, then known as Ralph, and her career as cartoon creator and showrunner. I know it sounds silly but it spoke to me in a way I didn’t quite understand as a kid. It was everything: the voices, the use of colors, the rubber hose-style with a taste for the 90s, the jokes and gags, the animation, right down to later learning about the team that worked on that show and being interested in their careers in cartoons and who they worked with. I’ve always loved to draw but I didn’t start honing my skill drawing cartoons until 2003 and I haven’t looked back. Yet I’ve only just realized in my mid-30s that THIS is what I want to do with my life; I want to create cartoon shows, come up with ideas, produce music for them, do crazy voices, and animate them for everyone to enjoy. I would absolutely love to work in this field so I offer my talents to all producers everywhere. I’ve been entertaining all my life and I want the chance to give a few generations new shows, funny cartoons and characters, and new tunes to love.
